Jovon Miller

Seattle, Washington, USA
He/him

The main focus of his practice as a teacher is to conceive dance and music as one shared language — drawing on his background as a working musician to explain music theory, musicality, and rhythm in ways that deepen how dancers move. Jovon's proposal is to use his gifts to create artists, give them performance opportunities, and teach life lessons through dance along the way.

Dancer, Educator, Musician, and Choreographer based in Seattle, Washington. Jovon Miller is a talented, innovative, and diverse artist whose work as an outstanding, award-winning dancer and choreographer centers primarily on tap, contemporary, and jazz dance. He received a BA in dance from Western Washington University, with a focus on modern interpretive dance, and went on to found Jovon Miller Productions, where his mission is to develop artists and teach life lessons through dance.

His music background — performing alongside Gerald Turner (Digable Planets and Cherrywine), Kevin Gardner (platinum producer for E-40), Greg Adams (Tower of Power), and many others — informs how he breaks down music theory and rhythm for his students. He frequents master classes and workshops at dance studios and universities throughout the Pacific Northwest, including his alma mater, Western Washington University.
